Q. Will my partner change once we are married?

A. One of the major reasons newlywed couples find the adjustment to marriage so difficult is that they typically are too idealistic. Premarital relationships are often filled with fantasies and myths, especially the idea that the partner’s undersirable traits will change after the couple is married.

Premarital Fantasies and Marital Realities

She divorced him because all he did was work.

He married her because she was so attractive all the time;

He married her because she was so quiet and dependent;
He divorced her because she was so boring and clinging.

She married him because he was the life of the party;
