Breaking Through
to Intimacy
by Drs.
Ron and Nancy Rockey, Faith For Today
Statistics
tell us that in or out of Christian arenas,
marriages are failing nearly as fast as they are occurring
Wives feeling used, husbands feeling rejected.
Communication fails as distance and silence move in. Then broken
commitments, lost trust, unmet needs, anger internalized or expressed
in ways that disrespect, emotional distance moves in, perhaps even
divorce and custody battles. Statistics tell us that in or out of
Christian areas, marriages are failing nearly as fas as they are
occurring.
For "Mr. Nice Christian Guy" and his
"Mrs. Trying Hard," the "breakdown" in their
relationship became apparent many years into the marriage. It's
as if they woke up one morning to the realization that the love
they once felt had faded into the distant past. Romance was gone.
Many Christian parents suffer excruciating emotional
pain because their grown children have left their church, their
home and family or a relationship with God. Prayers and pleadings
go unanswered. In some children, bitterness and anger have replaced
the innocence and trust which characterized childhood years. Parents
who are still raising children, are concerned that they instill
right principles, thus preventing emotional trauma.
Most are unaware that Satan's agenda is to destroy children in character
forming years, so that he can control them for a lifetime. In this
series, the Rockeys explore the most famous of Christ's parables
- the story of the Prodigals Son. Participants are called to self-examination
and study. The Word of God, inspired writings and sound psychological
principles are employed to create life-changing results and hope
- Confident Expectation, for the future return of our children.
Ron and Nancy presented the highlights from this
series at the Oregon Conference Camp Meeting in the Family Life
Center. This video series of 22 presentations (30-minute each) is
$395. Order at www.itsfixable.com.
